Your employer or staffing agency will start sending you messages on WhatsApp, from one official number. No need to worry: almost nothing changes for you, and there is nothing you have to do. Here is how it works, in a minute.
You do not have to install anything
You use your own, familiar WhatsApp, the same app you use for friends and family. No separate app, no account to create, no settings. The messages arrive like any other WhatsApp message.
Yes, this really is your employer
The messages come from an official, verified business number. That means:
- You see the company name instead of an unknown mobile number.
- It is not spam and there are no dubious links or tricks.
- You can be sure it really comes from the company.
This is safer than a message from someone's private number.
That first, slightly formal message
The very first message may look a little formal. That is a standard message WhatsApp requires, a sort of official knock on the door so you know it comes from a real company. As soon as you reply, the conversation continues normally, just like any other chat.
Just reply the way you normally would
Got a question, or want to respond to a shift or an invitation? Type your reply. Someone is watching along (sometimes with the help of a smart assistant), so you will get a proper answer. There is no need to behave differently from a normal WhatsApp chat.
What they can see
The company sees your phone number and the messages you send, and nothing more, just like a normal chat with someone who already has your number. So they do not see your profile picture or your personal chats. Your data is handled properly and in line with privacy rules.
Do not want messages anymore?
That is fine, you stay in control. Say so in the chat and it stops. You can also mute or block the number in WhatsApp, exactly like any other chat.
Any other questions? Ask them directly in the chat, or contact your employer or agency.
