Questions about coexistence

What is WhatsApp Coexistence?

A Meta feature that lets one phone number run in the WhatsApp Business app and on the WhatsApp Business Platform at the same time. Until 2024 you had to choose one or the other. Now they run side by side, so your recruiters stay in the app they know while Boomer reaches your whole pool on the same number.

Will I lose my chats and contacts when I connect?

No. Your number stays the same and your chat history stays. A few things do not carry over into Boomer: edited messages, group chats, broadcast lists and profile pictures. That sits on Meta's side and we cannot change it.

What do I need in order to connect?

Four things: the number must already be active in the WhatsApp Business app, you must be an admin of the Meta business portfolio, the number must be able to receive an SMS or a call (so avoid VoIP), and you must be able to open Settings in Meta Business Suite. That last one can be delayed by a day on a new device, so log in beforehand.

How long does connecting take?

About fifteen minutes. The preparation takes longer than the act: make sure you logged into Meta Business Suite a day earlier and that you know which business portfolio is the right one.

Can I start with a new number instead?

Yes. In the same screen you create a new number rather than connecting an existing one. You start clean, without your existing chats and contacts.
